The Chorale presents a variety of performances including two annual concerts, on stage with Saginaw Choral Society, at Saginaw Spirit hockey games and various other community events. The chorus is directed by Dr. Carl Michael Angelo. Rehearsals occur once a week, 5:30-7:00 p.m., on Tuesday evenings at First Congregational Church, Saginaw from September through May. Mission
The mission of the Saginaw Youth Chorale is to develop healthy singing and good musicianship through education and performance while instilling pride in hard work, study, and achievement resulting in a life-long passion for music. Curriculum The Saginaw Youth Choral is a special learning environment designed to provide a rich, rewarding, and fun musical experience for each child. The curriculum emphasizes healthy vocal training and musical literacy through the study and performance of exciting choral works. Masterpieces of music from all eras and cultures form the foundation for music education. Singers are taught the systematic use of their vocal instrument through correct posture, breath support, vocal exercise and tone production. The concepts inherent in music literacy (melody, rhythm, harmony, timbre, dynamics, form, style and tempo) as well as musical skill (theory, sight-reading and solfege) will be methodically taught throughout rehearsals. We hope that these skills will form a life-long enthusiasm for the art of vocal expression. The Saginaw Youth Chorale is a tuition-based choir sponsored by the Saginaw Choral Society.
